Allium Group receives CE Marks for two of its next-generation urinary and gastrointestinal-tract stents
CAESAREA, Israel . July 3, 2007 Allium Group, the developer and manufacturer of innovative stents for the urinary, gastro-intestinal, pulmonary and peripheral vascular tracts, announced today that it has been awarded two CE marks for its biliary and ureteral stents. Allium’s thin-walled, large caliber, self-expanding, fully covered metal stents are unique because they can be left in the body for long periods without being changed and easily removed even after long implant periods. Allium’s stents are cost effective and more acceptable to physicians and patients. The stents developed by Allium are designed to treat malignant as well as benign obstructions. They are engineered to prevent foreshortening during deployment allowing excellent accuracy in their placement and to prevent tissue ingrowth. “The receipt of the CE marks paves the way to launch marketing in the European market this year,” said Allium’s General Manager and VP of Technology, Dr. Baruch Levy. “Allium is pleased to introduce and harness its new-generation stent technology platform to urology and gastroenterology patients in Europe who are seeking innovative products to improve their quality of life,” Levy added. About Allium Stents are small tubular devices to open and keep open narrowed body pathways. Allium Group developed a multi-patented technological platform to develop and produce site-specific stents designs tailored for each organ. These next-generation stents will enable physicians to offer more effective solutions to obstructive diseases and for enhancing the quality of life of patients. Allium is a group of privately held companies established in Q2 2001. It was founded and is led by Daniel Yachia , M.D., a prominent urologist and a world expert on urological stents. He is Professor Emeritus of Urology at the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine – Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa . The group’s several projects have received partial funding from the R&D investment program of Israel ’s Ministry and Trade Industry’s Office of the Chief Scientist and Bi-National Cooperation Funds. Allium already signed several European distribution agreements for marketing its next-generation unique stents and is looking to extend and expand its sales and operations world wide. |
